Aldona Wos designated as Honorary Chairs, for the Greensboro Police Foundation’s inaugural signature event, “The Blue Salute.”  The event is held on October 12, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the Proximety Hotel in Greensboro, NC.

The event featured exhibits and demonstrations of cutting-edge police technology and equipment. Guests also enjoyed heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, cocktails, and live music.

Dr. Aldona Wos and Nikki Hayley Kick Off Elon University’s 2019-2020 Speaker Series

Dr. Aldona Wos, former ambassador to Estonia, moderated a question-and-answer session with Nikki Haley, former South Carolina governor and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.  Nikki Haley was the featured speaker during Elon University’s Fall Convocation in what was the first in the university’s 2019-20 Speaker Series.

Drawing from her experiences growing up a minority in South Carolina, a state she would later lead as governor, Nikki Haley said she learned to focus on the similarities between people, not the differences. It was a lesson she said she would later lean upon as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations as she looked to find common ground while promoting the country’s values and interests.

The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation is proud to continue its funding to the Patriot Foundation and sponsorship of their 17th Annual Soldiers Appreciation Dinner, held on September 21, 2019 at the Pinehurst Resort Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Corporate and foundation sponsors were honored at the dinner.

Founded in 2003, the Patriot Foundation supports families of servicemen and women killed, wounded, injured, or seriously ill, in the Global War on Terrorism.

The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation supports initiatives and organizations that shape and advocate public policy in a free society.  Since 2009, the foundation has supported the George W. Bush Presidential Center, which through its three Impact Centers — Domestic Excellence, Global Leadership, and its Engagement Agenda – focuses on developing leaders, advancing policy, and taking action to solve today’s most pressing challenges.

In addition to the DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation’s ongoing support and engagement, Louis DeJoy and Ambassador Aldona Wos were honored to attend a private luncheon reception with former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush on September 7, 2019.

The Foundation Hosts Reception for Elon University’s Elon Village Families and Elon Odyssey Scholars

The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation has supported the Winston-Salem Open, a men’s professional tennis tournament played on the ATP Tour at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, since its debut in 2011. Louis DeJoy began sponsoring the event when he was Chairman and CEO of New Breed Logistics, and in 2015 continued the sponsorship through the DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation.

In addition to sponsoring the Winston-Salem Open, the DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation hosted a reception for groups of children and their families from Elon University’s Elon Village Families and Elon Odyssey Scholars. Select this link to view photos from the reception.

The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation has sponsored the Wyndham Championship and Wednesday Pro-Am for twelve consecutive years. The Foundation proudly sponsors The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation Wednesday Pro-Am where you golf alongside a PGA TOUR player. This year’s winner was North Carolina native J.T. Poston, who was the first person since 1974 to win the 72-hole tournament without any bogeys or worse.

DeJoy-Wos Leadership Scholars Complete Their 2019 Summer Programs in Washington, D.C., Funded by the DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation

In the second of a five-year gift funded through the DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation and organized by The Fund for American Studies (TFAS), one full scholarship was awarded to an Estonia student and full and partial scholarships were awarded to 10 North Carolina students, with priority given to students with financial need. The students interned with government agencies, media outlets, businesses and nonprofit organizations, while attending courses with academic credit provided through George Mason University.

EMF students receive scholarships from the DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation

Thirteen North Carolina students at this summer’s Eastern Music Festival have received scholarships from the DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation. The scholarship funding comes from $20,000 that the Greensboro-based foundation gave to EMF. This marks the foundation’s fourth year of support. Wos is a former U.S. ambassador to Estonia and former secretary of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. DeJoy was the chief executive officer of High Point-based New Breed Logistics and XPO Logistics’ supply chain business in the Americas. He is now president of LDJ Global Strategies, a strategic real estate investment and consulting company. For 58 summers, EMF has provided classical music instruction to students from around the world, under the artistic direction of Gerard Schwarz.

The DEJOY/WOS Family Foundation is a Proud Benefactor of the Vice President’s Residence Foundation

The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation is a proud benefactor of the Vice President’s Residence Foundation, a charitable organization established in 1991 to help raise money to promote and support the historical preservation and furnishing of the official residence of the Vice President of the United States, located at the Naval Observatory. Built in 1893, the private residence at Number One Observatory Circle features Queen Anne-style architecture and is just 2.5 miles from the White House.

For 30 years, it served as the home of the superintendent of the US Naval Observatory; then in 1923, it became the official residence for the head of the Navy. In 1974, Congress designated the house as the home of the vice president. Every vice president has lived there since Mondale, bringing their own unique touch to the home’s 9,150 square feet.
