The Institute of World Politics

The Institute of World Politics (IWP) is an independent graduate school in Washington, D.C. dedicated to developing leaders with a sound understanding of international realities and the ethical conduct of statecraft. IWP offers a unique curriculum that encompasses all the instruments of national power—from diplomacy and intelligence to strategic influence and moral leadership, preparing graduates to serve in the fields of national security, international affairs, and intelligence.

A Deep and Personal Commitment

The DeJoy\Woś family’s relationship with IWP spans nearly two decades, beginning in 2007, and represents one of the Foundation’s most significant and enduring partnerships. For Ambassador Aldona Woś, this commitment is deeply personal. Born in Warsaw, Poland, her family experienced firsthand the horrors of totalitarianism: her father, Paul Zenon Woś, survived Flossenbürg Concentration Camp and served in the Polish Home Army, later receiving the “Righteous Among the Nations” medal from Yad Vashem. Her mother survived Nazi Germany’s child slave labor. These experiences instilled in Ambassador Woś a lifelong dedication to educating future leaders about the dangers of totalitarian ideologies and the importance of defending liberty—the very mission at the heart of IWP.

Ambassador Woś’s Leadership as President

Ambassador Woś served as an IWP Trustee for 15 years, during which time she championed the Institute’s mission in countless ways—arranging speaking opportunities, hosting events, introducing the school to supporters and university partners, and providing generous financial support.

In February 2022, she was appointed Interim President, and in May 2023, she was formally invested as the third President of The Institute of World Politics. Under her leadership, IWP continues to advance its mission of educating patriotic statesmen who understand not only the realities of international affairs but also the moral foundations of American liberty.

As President, Ambassador Woś has emphasized IWP’s unique approach of “Winning Without War”—the integrated use of all instruments of statecraft to achieve national security objectives while avoiding armed conflict. She has spoken passionately about the Institute’s role in forming leaders of character who are mission-oriented rather than self-serving, and who understand the history lessons, including the devastation wrought by fascism and communism.

The Louis DeJoy and Aldona Woś Family Foundation Scholarship

Established in 2017, the Foundation made a 10-year pledge to support The Louis DeJoy and Aldona Woś Family Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship enables exceptional Master’s and doctoral candidates with demonstrated financial need to attend IWP and become leaders in international affairs, national security, and intelligence. The scholarship provides up to full tuition per semester to recipients who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to service and civic duty.

Since its establishment, 21 IWP students have received the scholarship, launching careers dedicated to America’s security and the defense of freedom.

The Kościuszko Chair of Polish Studies

The Foundation provided a leadership gift to help IWP match a $1 million challenge grant from the American Institute of Polish Culture, establishing the Kościuszko Chair as a permanent professorship. Named for Tadeusz Kościuszko—the Polish Lithuanian military engineer who fought in the American Revolution—the Chair serves as a center for Polish Studies, examining Poland’s culture, history, heritage, and achievements, with special emphasis on its relationship with the United States.

This initiative holds particular significance for Ambassador Woś, reflecting her commitment to ensuring that the true history of Poland—long shaped by imperial powers, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union—is accurately preserved and taught.

Continued Support Through the Chancellor’s Council

The DeJoy\Woś Family Foundation is a proud member of IWP’s Chancellor’s Council, the Institute’s top tier of supporters. Through their continued generosity, the Foundation has served as:

  • Founder Sponsor of IWP’s 35th Anniversary Gala at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium (October 2025)
  • Founder Sponsor of IWP’s Gala at the Library of Congress (October 2024)
  • Ambassador Sponsor of “From IWP with Love: An Evening of Espionage” at the International Spy Museum (October 2023)
  • Ambassador Sponsor of the 2022 Gala & Dinner at The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City

In April 2022, the Foundation made a $100,000 contribution to IWP at a special event in Greensboro attended by over 100 guests, featuring remarks from IWP’s Founder, President Emeritus, and Chancellor, Dr. John Lenczowski.
