The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation provides annual support to the Council of American Ambassadors (CAA)—the association of non-career United States ambassadors. Ambassador Aldona Woś has served as a member of the CAA Board of Directors for over 15 years, actively contributing to the Council’s mission of enhancing America’s conduct of diplomacy.
Founding and Mission
The Council of American Ambassadors was founded in 1983 by a group of former citizen or non-career Ambassadors who recognized the importance of supporting and encouraging the Foreign Service, enhancing the image of the State Department in the nation and in the Congress, and recognizing the achievements and contributions of non-career diplomats in the conduct of America’s foreign policy.
The Council Today
Today, the Council of American Ambassadors is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization comprising over 200 members—both retired and on active duty—whose ambassadorial service collectively extends over six decades and eleven U.S. Presidents. The Council thus represents an important resource whose members bridge both political parties and many Administrations and link the private and public sectors.
Ambassador Woś brings a unique perspective to the Council, having experienced life under communist rule in her native Poland before immigrating to the United States—a background that informs her deep commitment to democracy and freedom.
