The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation is proud to support the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Dr. Aldona Woś serves as Vice Chair of the UNCW Board of Trustees, having been appointed by the UNC Board of Governors in July 2023 to serve a four-year term. She is a member of the Educational Planning and Programs Committee and the External Affairs Committee, and in spring 2025, Dr. Woś delivered the prestigious Chancellor’s Dare to Learn Lecture.
UNCW is a nationally recognized public research university and one of 17 institutions in the UNC System, located just minutes from the beach in Wilmington, North Carolina. Known as “North Carolina’s coastal university,” UNCW earned its Carnegie Classification as a doctoral university with high research activity (R2) in 2018. The university offers more than 260-degree programs and has achieved record enrollment, with approximately 19,900 students in fall 2025 and a retention rate of 88%, the highest in university history.
UNCW is an internationally recognized leader in coastal and marine science research and education, home to the Center for Marine Science with state-of-the-art facilities directly accessible from the Intracoastal Waterway. The university offers the nation’s first bachelor’s degree in coastal engineering and has secured more than $129 million in sponsored research funding since 2018.
The DEJOY\WOS Family Foundation also supports UNCW students through the DeJoy-Woś Family Foundation Scholarship in partnership with The Fund for American Studies. For nearly 20 years, this scholarship program has enabled outstanding North Carolina college students, including UNCW Seahawks, to participate in competitive summer leadership development programs in Washington, D.C. Recipients gain invaluable experience through internships with Congressional offices, government agencies, and policy organizations while taking courses at George Mason University.
